Cambridge Trust supports study at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. The Trust lists different scholarships with different eligibility rules. Some provide fuller support and others contribute only part of the cost. Treat each award as a separate funding option rather than assuming every Cambridge Trust scholarship is fully funded.

Find an award that fits

Use the official Cambridge Trust scholarship finder. Compare study level, nationality or residency conditions, subject restrictions and any partner requirements. Record the award’s name and official page so you can return to the same rules when preparing your application.

Start with your intended course. Undergraduate and postgraduate admission routes differ, and a scholarship search cannot replace the university application. Read the scholarship’s own instructions to learn whether consideration follows your university funding application or requires an additional step.

Compare funding with your actual costs

Make a simple budget for tuition, maintenance, travel and other expenses relevant to your situation. Next to each item, record whether the award explicitly covers it. A contribution towards fees does not establish that living costs are covered. Avoid making travel commitments based on an informal estimate; rely on a written award decision.

Prepare useful evidence

  • Check your course’s entry requirements and the scholarship’s conditions separately.
  • Collect transcripts and required translations early enough to correct missing or unreadable pages.
  • Ask referees for a specific assessment of academic preparation and relevant achievements.
  • Explain why the course advances a clear academic or professional objective.
  • Keep information about other funding accurate. Follow the provider’s rules on combining awards.

Write an application that a reviewer can assess

Replace broad claims such as ‘I am passionate about education’ with evidence. You might discuss a research project, a relevant employment responsibility or an academic challenge you resolved. State your own contribution when describing group work. If financial circumstances are relevant to the award, explain them clearly and consistently without exaggeration.

Avoid common application errors

Do not reuse another applicant’s statement or assume an older award listing has the current deadline. Do not describe Cambridge as a Canadian institution. Check that the course name, qualification level and dates match across your forms. Save the final submitted version and a record of any reference requests.

Check the next step

Consult the official award entry for application instructions, timing and contact details. If a rule is unclear, ask the Trust or university through its published channel. Selection is competitive and funding varies by award; an admission offer alone does not confirm that your fees and living costs will be funded.
