Unemployed graduates are invited to apply for the SAPS Graduate Recruitment Scheme internship programme. Here is how you may apply.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched an internship programme as part of the National Human Resource Development Strategy and the National Skills Development Strategy.
Unemployed graduates are welcome to apply to be a part of the 12-month Graduate Recruitment Scheme Internship programme at Division: Human Resource Management.
There are a number of categories to choose from within the internship programme. Each category provides participants with a stipend, which is determined by the Divisional Commissioner of Human Resource Development.
Applicants will need to meet the application requirements in order to qualify for the internship. Here are the general requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Possess a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent (NCV Level 4).
- Should have no pending criminal cases or previous convictions.
- Unemployed and never have been employed in the field of the advertised post.
- Should never have taken part in an internship programme in the relevant field of the post.
- Should be a resident of the province where the post is advertised.
SAPS requested that applicants apply for no more than three posts. Applicants will also be required to complete a separate application form for each post reference number.
How To Apply For SAPS Internship:
- Download the official application form for the Graduate Recruitment Scheme Internship programme from the SAPS website.
- Follow all the instructions on the application form.
- Attach the post particulars and reference number of the post to the application.
- Submit your Curriculum Vitae (CV) with your application form.
- Include Certified copies of your ID, NSC and all post-school educational qualifications.
- Submit your application form to the relevant parties.
Applicants are encouraged to adhere to the instructions on the application, as failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application. Applicants are also required to attach the post particulars and post reference number to the application form, as it allows the official to know exactly what they are applying for.

When submitting the application form, applicants should ensure that the certified documents attached are no older than 3 months. Applicants should note that no faxed or emailed applications will be considered.
Unfortunately, no late applications will be considered or accepted. Therefore, it is very important that applications are submitted in a timely fashion.
All shortlisted candidates will be contacted to have their fingerprint screening and security clearance done. Short-listed candidates will also be expected to undergo personal interviews.
Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. Those who have not been contacted two months after the closing date are unfortunately unsuccessful.
Successful candidates will be expected to sign a 12-month contract, which will prove that the candidate has accepted the post. Interns are reminded that an automatic permanent post will not be provided at the end of the programme.
