Krystle Kabare Scholarship 2024

Before her untimely passing, Krystle Kabare was working as a Social Policy Specialist at Development Pathways in Kenya. She was passionate about improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of society, with a strong interest in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.

As a celebration of Krystle’s life, Development Pathways is awarding a Scholarship to a prospective Master’s degree student, for a two-year course, within the fields of Public Health, Anthropology, Economics, Sociology, Social Statistics, or any other relevant field.

The Development Pathways Krystle Kabare Scholarship programme offers an annual academic Scholarship to a Kenyan graduate student with disabilities, at the University of Nairobi, in memory of the late Krystle Kabare. See below for more information.

Who was Krystle Kabare?

Krystle Kabare, born in 1987. She excelled in her studies at both the Aga Khan Primary school and the Mt. Kenya Academy and was awarded a scholarship at Rabun Gab Nacoochee in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) for her high school education.

She was a gifted student. She went on to attain a degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Agnes Scott College in the USA before rounding out her academic achievements with a Master of Science in Peace and Development Studies in Sweden.

In her career, she worked for HelpAge International and later at Development Pathways Kenya, where she developed a passion for human rights and development while working as a Social Policy Specialist.

She had a keen interest in helping persons living with disabilities and it is this interest that is the inspiration for the Krystle Kabare Scholarship.
