Internship Stipend

Primary Purpose of the Internship

This internship is designed to offer successful candidates practical learning and assistance within the Transport Finance Revenue Section. Interns will gain exposure to various critical financial functions. These include inventory management, cash management, revenue management, banking processes, financial reporting, and understanding municipal financial policies. They will also learn about compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act.

Key Learning Areas

Interns will actively assist with several key duties to develop their skills and understanding. These duties include ensuring that cash sales processed at Rea Vaya stations are properly accounted for and supporting the correct banking of all received cash. They will also help ensure bank transactions are accurately recorded and accounted for. Furthermore, interns will assist with the timely preparation and reporting of accounting information and support inventory management in line with City policies. Resolving audit findings and contributing to the City’s objective of obtaining a clean audit are also key responsibilities.
