Sasol Bursaries 2027: Apply Now for Engineering and Science Funding

Are you a South African student aiming for a career in engineering or science? The Sasol Bursaries 2027 programme is now open for applications. This opportunity provides full funding for full-time studies at recognised South African universities.

Bursary Overview

The Sasol Mainstream Bursary Programme 2027 covers tuition, accommodation, and other costs for students in engineering and science fields. It also offers mentorship and development support. After graduation, successful students may join Sasol’s Graduate Development Programmes. Keep in mind there is a workback requirement, where you commit to working for Sasol for a set period.

Applications opened on 1 April 2026 and close on 17 May 2026.

Fields of Study

Sasol funds specific degrees to match their business needs. Choose from these options based on your level of study.

Undergraduate BEng or BSc Degrees

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Chemistry (must go up to Honours level)
  • Geology (must go up to Honours level)
  • Data Science, including Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Operations Research

Undergraduate BEng Tech

  • Mine Surveying, but only at a University of Technology

Postgraduate MSc, MEng, or PhD

Options include advanced work in:

  • Chemical Engineering, such as Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, or Process Modelling
  • Chemistry, covering Catalysis, Polymer Science, Environmental Science, or Analytical Chemistry
  • Cyber Security
  • Data Science, with focus on Applied Mathematics or Statistics

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must meet these basics:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be under 30 years old.
  • Plan to study full-time at a recognised South African university.
  • Show strong academic results, especially in Mathematics (Maths Literacy does not count).
  • Pursue a degree programme, not a diploma.
  • No distance learning options like UNISA.

Important Conditions

Selection is competitive and based on your grades and Sasol’s needs. Submit only one application, and do it online. Incomplete or wrong details lead to automatic rejection. Email applications are not accepted.

Required Documents

Prepare these before applying:

  • Your latest academic results from Grade 11 or higher.
  • A certified copy of your ID.
  • Any other documents listed on the application portal.
