Sasol Foundation Bursary Application Details 2022-2023
The Sasol Foundation is offering all-inclusive bursaries to talented individuals who are planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree or diploma to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for applicants nationally.
To be considered, you must be a South African citizen and have acceptance or provisional acceptance for studies at a South African public University or University of Technology for the following year.
Applications may be submitted for degrees (not diplomas) in one of the following fields of study:
Undergraduate Studies (B.Eng. / B.Sc.)
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy
- Mining Engineering
- Chemistry
- Geology (Hons. is a requirement for Sasol)
- Data Science (Computer Science / Mathematics / Operations Research / Statistics)

To be considered for the Sasol Foundation bursary, the applicant must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Be a South African Citizen.
- Must have acceptance or provisional acceptance for studies at a South African University or University of Technology for the upcoming year.
- Combined Household Income must be less than 600 000 per annum
- Must have obtained a minimum of 50% in all subjects.
- Non-STEM bursaries are reserved only for qualifying Children of Sasol Employees, Khanyisa/Inzalo Shareholders or Candidates from Sasol Fence-line communities.
Sasol Bursary will cover the following:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees (no payment for repeat modules)
- Book & pocket money
- Meal allowance
- Accommodation money (An amount equal to the average rate for accommodation in a single room at a University residence at which the Sasol bursar is studying.)
- A once-off Computer and Calculator allowance
- Work opportunities (with a work-back obligation/pay-back obligation) – based on Company needs
- Development opportunities (e.g. possible vacation work after completion of 2nd and 3rd academic year of study).
