The Financial Internship and Communications Internship offer hands-on experience in local government. Financial Internship Overview

The Financial Internship sits in the Directorate of Financial Services. It follows the Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP). This two-year fixed-term contract pays R108 000 per annum, all-inclusive. Interns gain real-world practice in municipal budgeting, treasury tasks, financial administration, policy work, and finance systems.

Requirements for the Financial Internship

You need a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Auditing, or similar fields. Basic computer skills with MS Office are a must. Show strong management, interpersonal, and communication skills. Handle pressure, spot details, and speak at least two Western Cape languages well. Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old.

Communications Internship Overview

This one-year role in the Office of the Municipal Manager pays R100 000 per annum, all-inclusive. It suits those with backgrounds in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing. No prior work experience needed. Interns help with marketing programs, social media, website updates, newsletters, media releases, events, public participation, and admin tasks.

Requirements for the Communications Internship

Hold a National Diploma or Degree in a related field. Know MS Office and social media tools. Bring good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Work under pressure and overtime if needed.
