Eligibility For 2024 Postdoctoral Scholarship at University of Maryland College Park
Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment in biology, ecology, environmental science, microbiology, plant sciences, entomology, forestry, or related field. Experience with data manipulation and statistical analysis using R, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to acquire a valid MD driver’s license are required. Preferred candidates will have strengths in areas such as path analysis, multivariate approaches, functional/phylogenetic diversity, and/or multi-level models; experience with plant, fungal, or arthropod taxa; experience with plant/insect husbandry, diversity experiments, forest experiments, reproducible and open science practices, mentoring, outreach/extension, and a strong track record of peer-reviewed publication.
Description For 2024 Postdoctoral Scholarship at University of Maryland College Park
The postdoc will collaborate with Dr. Karin Burghardt and colleagues to analyze long-term data on the role of neighboring tree diversity in multitrophic interactions and changes in leaf chemical metabolome/traits affecting tree productivity within the BiodiversiTREE experiment at SERC. Responsibilities include dataset analysis, field data collection, peer-reviewed article writing, and professional meeting presentations. Dr. Burghardt will create a personalized postdoctoral mentoring plan focusing on the postdoc’s career goals.
