About Kairuki School of Nursing (Profile).
The Kairuki School of Nursing (KSN) formally known as Mikocheni School of Nursing, is affiliated to the Faculty of Nursing of Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU) and Kairuki Hospital. The School is fully registered by the National Council of Technical Education (NACTE). Kairuki Hospital serves as the teaching hospital for the Kairuki School of Nursing.
Practical training is also carried out at Amana Hospital, Mwananyamala Hospital, Magomeni RCH clinic and Muhimbili National Hospital, through field studies to give students the required knowledge, exposure and experience in their training.

Location: KSN is located at 70 Chwaku Street- Mikocheni area, Kinondoni district, 7km from Dar es Salaam City Centre. The school is in the same building as Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU) and Kairuki Hospital (KH).

1. Diploma in Nursing (NTA Level 4-6) Pre-service
Diploma in Nursing (NTA Level 4) Pre-Service programme is for admitted students who have never attended nursing training before.
Entry requirements :
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), with 4 passes in non-religious subjects including C – Chemistry and Biology, D – Physics/Engineering Sciences and English Language. A pass in Basic Mathematics is an added advantage. The duration of the programme is 3 years.
2. Diploma in Nursing In-service (e-learning) :
Kairuki School of Nursing offers a Diploma in Nursing in-service programme with the use of electronic learning (e-learning) which combines electronic learning using computers and face-to-face sessions. With this approach, students will remain in their workplace for most of the study time with minimal disruption to their work schedules. This program is for enrolled nurses who desire an upgrade in their nursing careers.
Entry Requirements:
Holders of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Nursing, Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with D – Biology, Chemistry or Physics. The duration of the programme is 2 years.
3. Certificate in Nursing (NTA level 4-5):
Entry requirements:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), with four 4 in non-religious subjects including C – Chemistry and Biology, D-Physics/Engineering Sciences and English Language. A pass in Basic Mathematics is an added advantage. The duration of the programme is 2 years.
4. Midwifery Bridging Course :
The purpose of the Programme is to educate on suitable basic knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to Midwifery practice concerning reproductive, preventive, and curative health care services in the community and Health facilities.
Entry Requirements :
This is a special programme for nurses who have no Midwifery background from their previous study and are interested in joining to broaden their knowledge. The duration of the Programme is 6 months.

Mode of Application:
All applicants for all programmes offered by KSN are required to apply directly to the Kairuki School of Nursing, with a non-refundable fee of Tshs. 50,000/= or USD 50.00 (for international students), cash payments to the University Bursar or Tigo Pesa, MPesa, or Airtel Money. Application is online through the University website: www.hkmu.ac.tz
APPLICANTS FOR DIPLOMA IN NURSING (PRE-SERVICE), DIPLOMA IN NURSING IN-SERVICE (E-LEARNING) AND CONVENTIONAL PROGRAMME
Applicants for the Diploma in Nursing (Pre-Service), in-service(e-learning ) and Certificate in Nursing programmes, are required to apply directly through the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) Central Admission System.
