JCT is offering two distinct Youth Development Internship roles, each with specific locations and responsibilities. Both positions are within the Client Services department and offer a monthly stipend of R6 094.25.

Youth Development Internship – Joburg Theatre

This internship is based at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein. The reference number for this position is YD/JT/04/2026.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have completed Grade 12, which is equivalent to NQF Level 4. Additionally, a Diploma in Performing Arts, Dramatic Arts, or a similar qualification is required. Computer literacy, specifically in MS Office Applications and email, is also a necessary skill.

Key Responsibilities

The successful intern will be involved in a variety of tasks that support youth empowerment and arts programmes. These include assisting in the planning and coordination of youth empowerment initiatives, supporting arts education projects and workshops, and helping with community outreach efforts. The role also involves tracking participant registration and attendance, providing support during rehearsals, workshops, and performances, and assisting with general programme administration and record keeping. Furthermore, interns will contribute to social media content creation and campaign management, as well as support monitoring and evaluation activities.

Youth Development Internship – Soweto Theatre

This internship is located at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani and has two available posts. The reference number for these positions is YD/SW/04/2026.

Minimum Requirements

Similar to the Joburg Theatre role, applicants must possess a Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification. A Diploma in Performing Arts, Dramatic Arts, or an equivalent qualification is also mandatory. Proficiency in MS Office Applications and email is required.

Key Responsibilities

Interns at Soweto Theatre will focus on community engagement and administrative support. Key duties include liaising with schools and community arts centres to build relationships and partnerships. They will assist in planning youth development programmes, compiling reports from facilitators, and monitoring attendance registers and supporting documentation. The role also involves conducting inventory checks for costumes and instruments, providing general arts administration support, and gaining practical experience in programme coordination and stakeholder engagement.
