About ITCOeICT
Information and communications technology (ICT) impacts the communities in which we live and the way individuals, corporate, government and others interrelate and develop.
The India-Tanzania Center of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology (ITCoEICT) hosted at Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) was established in 2009 as a result of the friendly relationship between India and Tanzania and their desire to extend strength bilateral cooperation in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This was made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and Tanzania governments in 2008 to establish ITCoEICT (Center). The principal objective of the Center is to promote the development of ICT in Tanzania.
In order to realize the stated objective the Center was originally established to provide various professional services in ICT including video conferencing; telemedicine and eLearning facilities, High-Performance Computing (HPC) and conducting modular short-term proficiency courses. These services were in three functional sections: Supercomputer and data center; eLearning and telemedicine; and telemedicine services. Currently, the Center is comprised by three main sections: Business development and collaboration; HPC and data center; and ICT training.
DIT portal is opened to all students irrespective of colour, race, ethnic identity, religion, gender or national origin provided the students have the login details.
