The successful candidates will be involved in the research and development of competitive technologies and innovative products under the guidance of researchers and engineers within cross-functional teams. These positions are based in Pretoria.

Responsibilities:
Under supervision, the interns will be required to:
– Ensure there is analysis and interpretation of experimental results;
– Conduct laboratory inventory management;
– Manage Bioreactor preparation, monitoring and sampling;
– Develop skills working with chemicals and biologicals;
– Manage laboratory responsibility and custodianship;
– Conduct routine work/experiments on general microbiology including enumeration of cells and streak/spread plating;
– Planning of experiments and execution of planned experiments;
– Development and implementation of standard operating procedures;
– Technical report writing.

Qualifications:
A national diploma or Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, microbiology or biotechnology;
Competencies:
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
– Must be able and willing to work shifts (morning, afternoon or night);
– The willingness to learn, work under pressure and be a team player;
– Must be self-motivated and have a passion for new innovations.
