Bergrivier Municipality HR Internship 2026: Apply for 12-Month Positions

Bergrivier Municipality is offering two Human Resources Internship positions for 2026. This is a great chance for South African graduates to gain hands-on experience in municipal HR. The program runs for 12 months in Piketberg, Western Cape, and pays a stipend of R78 000 per year.

Program Overview

The Bergrivier Municipality Human Resources Internship partners with the Local Government SETA to build skills in local government. Interns get practical work in HR, exposure to municipal processes, and training that matches local rules. The goal is to develop HR skills, support service delivery, and prepare people for careers in Human Resource Management.

Who Can Apply: Minimum Requirements

You need basic knowledge of Human Resource Services. Good communication skills, the ability to get along with others, attention to detail, report writing skills, and a high level of responsibility are key. A Diploma in Human Resource Management is preferred.

You must also speak at least two official Western Cape languages, such as Afrikaans, English, or Xhosa.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will help with several HR tasks. These include putting Municipal Staff Regulations into action, handling labour relations, managing personnel administration, dealing with Occupational Health and Safety, and supporting training and development programs.

Preference and Conditions

The municipality gives preference to candidates from the Bergrivier area (WC013). All applicants must follow the Employment Equity Act. If selected, you will go through police clearance, an interview, and an evaluation.
