ViGOR Research Fellowships 2026: Apply Now
Applications are open for the ViGOR Research Fellowships 2026. This program targets early-career researchers in Central and East Africa. It focuses on two key areas: virus genomics and outbreak modeling. The fellowships help build skills to improve public health during virus outbreaks.
What Is the ViGOR Consortium?
The ViGOR Research Fellowships 2026 come from the Virus Genomics for Outbreak Response consortium. This group gets funding from the UK’s National Institute for Health Research. Partners include the University of Warwick in the UK, KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Kenya, KEMRI-Centre for Virus Research in Kenya, Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, la Pêche et l’Environnement in Comoros.
The main goal is to boost public health systems in the region. It does this by providing better access to genomics, bioinformatics, and outbreak modeling tools. Fellows will gain skills to lead research and respond to viral threats.
