Stevenson’s Cape Town gallery is seeking an exceptionally motivated, organized and detail-oriented intern to work within a big team on all aspects of the gallery’s daily operation. A stipend/salary is paid at an hourly rate and the term is 3 months with the option of extension, commencing as soon as possible. Working hours are flexible.
This internship is open to recent graduates and young professionals who seek experience in art administration. Graphic designers are especially welcome to apply.
The internship involves a wide range of tasks, depending on the candidate’s interests and abilities these may include preparing for gallery events, assisting in the production of exhibitions, art fairs and related documents, working on special projects and collaborations, and administrative support to gallery staff. Ideal candidates learn and adapt easily, work well in a team, and are capable of particular attention to detail. Candidates proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop are preferred.
This position is a developmental opportunity that provides excellent exposure to the inner workings of the gallery business and is ideally suited for those interested in pursuing a career in the arts. Key areas of development may include graphic design, arts administration, project management and/or art historical research.
