Are you a young South African looking to build a career as a skilled artisan? The Steinmüller Africa Apprenticeships 2026 offer a great chance for unemployed youth to gain hands-on training in Boilermaking or Welding. This programme runs in Bethal, Mpumalanga, and applications close on 22 May 2026.

About the Steinmüller Africa Apprenticeship Programme 2026

Steinmüller Africa works with Bilfinger Intervalve Africa to provide these apprenticeships. The goal is to train people from communities near Kriel Power Station. Trainees get both classroom lessons and real work experience to become qualified artisans.

Programme Duration

The training lasts at least 36 months, or three years. It follows a structured plan with set modules and on-site practice.

What Participants Will Do

Trainees complete merSETA accredited modules in theory and practice. They also get workplace training and prepare for a trade test. At the end, successful participants qualify as Certified Artisans at NQF Level 4.

Key Responsibilities

Trainees must finish all training modules and tasks. They join practical sessions and help with production work. Mentors and training officers supervise them, and they may assist on site as needed.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you need a Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science, or an N2 qualification. An N2 with subjects like Mathematics, Engineering Science, Platers Theory, and Platers Drawings helps your chances. You must be 35 years old or younger, physically fit, have a clear criminal record, and live within 50 km of Kriel Power Station. Be ready to move to Bethal if required.

Required Documents

Submit certified copies of these: your updated CV, Grade 12 Certificate, N2 Certificate and results (if you have them), South African ID, and proof of residence like a municipal account or affidavit.

Important Notes

This programme is for Employment Equity candidates only. No accommodation or transport is provided. Steinmüller Africa and Bilfinger Intervalve Africa will never ask for money to process your application.

How to Apply

Check that you meet all requirements and gather your documents. Apply online here before the 22 May 2026 deadline.
