SANCCOB Internship Application Details 2022/2023

We have an opening for 2 Interns in our Seabird Rehabilitation Department and 1 Intern in the Education Department at our Gqeberha center from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023. SANCCOB will be hosting these interns and a monthly stipend will be paid by the contracting company.
The following Internship Opportunities are open for applications:
Seabird Internship:
- Positions require a person to assist on-site and duties will include general facility upkeep, seabird handling, feeding, and administering of medication to a variety of seabird species, food preparation, admissions, and record-keeping to name a few.
- Please note that this work is very physical.
- Preference will be given to candidates that have a background or qualification in zoology, marine biology, or conservation.
The Education Internship
- The position requires an individual with a background in Education, especially with children.
- The candidate will work closely with the Education Supervisor and will be assisting with the facilitation of environmental education lessons, volunteer and intern coordination, administration, data capturing, front-of-house duties, and resource development for the education department.
- Preference will be given to candidates with excellent communication abilities and people skills as well as basic computer literacy.
Candidate Requirements:
- The candidate must be a South African citizen, between 18 to 35 years of age.
- Equity candidates will be given preference as prescribed by the funder.
- The candidate must be unemployed for a minimum of 6 months, and a driver’s license and own travel arrangements are essential.
- Candidates are required to be on-site 5 days a week (including weekends and public holidays) from 8 am to 5 pm.
