Internship Overview
The Fire Fighter Intern position (Ref: MN4089/26) lasts for a 3-year contract. Interns earn R8 786.54 per month, which totals R105 438.48 per year. The location is Meyerton in Gauteng, South Africa. Minimum Requirements
To qualify, candidates need a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. They must hold Fire Fighter 1 & 2 certifications, including Hazmat Awareness and Operations, or similar training. A First Aid Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course is required. Applicants need a valid Code C Driver’s License. They must be medically and physically fit, able to swim, and free from phobias like claustrophobia or acrophobia. Knowledge in fire and rescue helps, as does 3 months of prior internship experience. Hard work and self-discipline are essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interns respond to tasks from the Station Officer each day. They check vehicles and firefighting gear on a routine basis. Cleaning and maintaining equipment and vehicles is part of the job. They report any faults or issues right away. Interns assist senior staff during firefighting operations. They attend emergency incidents and rescue efforts. This includes fighting grass, wildland, and building fires. They protect property and gear. Control room duties may be assigned. Interns follow all commands at scenes and handle extra tasks from supervisors.
