KZN Dept of Agriculture Internship Application Details 2022/2023
Interested applicants can apply for the KZN Dept of Agriculture Internship 2022 provided they qualify and meet the program requirements.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to sex, race, color, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, disability, or other protected status.
This initiative targets qualified unemployed graduates in agriculture who want to obtain experience and mentorship to venture into entrepreneurial enterprises and enhance their employability within the agricultural sector. The programme targets unemployed graduates, a minimum of 50% must be women and 60% must be youth (18-35 years). The key placement components are:
- Livestock Rearing and Poultry Production
- Horticulture / Crop Production
- Aquaculture and small-scale fisheries
- Agricultural Economics
Requirements
- Unemployed South African graduates in possession of a recognised Diploma/degree in agriculture
- Unemployed graduates from colleges of agriculture will receive first priority
- Youth (18-35 years)
- Applicants must be entering a similar programme in Government for the first time
- Applicants must demonstrate an interest and passion for agriculture
- Applicants must be willing to work long hours
Nature and Period of appointment:
- Successful applicants will be offered an employment agreement with the KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for two years for structured on-the-job training at identified farming enterprises in order to gain practical work experience and a better understanding of the agricultural sector. This is not an internship programme. All appointments are subject to verification of educational qualifications, previous experience, citizenship, reference checks and security vetting. Your success in this position does not guarantee a permanent position in the Department.
- Successful applicants will receive training and mentorship on commercial farms/enterprises and shall each receive a monthly stipend of R7 250 per month.
- Faxed or emailed and late applications and applications with certified copies of copies will not be considered. Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in the disqualification of the application. The Department reserves the right to appoint agricultural graduates. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only. If you have not heard from the Department within three months of the closing date, kindly regard your application as unsuccessful
