About Ivanplats

Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines. The company is focused on developing the Platreef project, a world-class mining operation located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Available Artisan Learnership Fields

The learnership programme will provide training in various technical disciplines relevant to the Ivanplats Mine. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to qualify in one of the following fields:

  • Auto Electrician
  • Boilermaker
  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Instrumentation
  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Millwright
  • Rigger

What the Learnership Offers

Programme Duration and Location

The learnership programme has a maximum duration of three years. However, it may conclude earlier if a candidate successfully obtains their relevant trade qualification before the three-year period. The learnership will take place at the Ivanplats Platreef Mine, located near Mokopane in the Limpopo Province, South Africa. Candidates must be prepared to work both underground and on the surface.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Ivanplats Artisan Learnerships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen or a permanent RSA resident.
  • Have completed Grade 12.
  • Have passed Mathematics and Physical Science with a minimum mark of 60%.
  • Possess an N2 qualification in Engineering Studies.
  • Be willing to undergo the relevant capability assessment.
  • Pass the required medical fitness examination.
