Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA Announce 18-Month Learnership Program

Gert Sibande TVET College, in partnership with the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), is offering an 18-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program for unemployed students. This initiative aims to provide valuable practical experience within the insurance sector, boosting employability for those who have completed N4 to N6 qualifications or hold a DHET Statement of Results in specific business studies fields. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, offering a significant opportunity for career development in the Gert Sibande Region of Mpumalanga, South Africa.

About the INSETA Learnership Program

The INSETA WIL Programme is a collaborative effort between Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA. Its primary goal is to equip students with the necessary workplace experience to complete their studies and enhance their job prospects. Successful candidates will be placed in insurance organizations, gaining hands-on experience that is crucial for understanding the dynamics of the financial and insurance industries. This learnership is specifically tailored for individuals seeking to gain practical skills and industry exposure.

Fields of Study and Qualifications

Applications are open to students who have successfully completed N4 to N6 qualifications or possess a DHET Statement of Results. The qualifying fields of study for this learnership are:

  • Financial Management: This area provides practical exposure to financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis within the insurance sector.

Program Duration and Requirements

The Work Integrated Learning Programme is set to run for a substantial period of 18 months. To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must meet several key criteria. They need to be South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35, and must be currently unemployed. A clean criminal record is a prerequisite, along with proficiency in English. Applicants should be willing to work within the insurance sector and funeral parlours, as these are the primary placement areas.

Furthermore, individuals must not be currently studying or intend to study during the program’s duration. Participation in any other learnership, internship, or training program simultaneously is not permitted. A crucial requirement is that applicants must be registered or former students of Gert Sibande TVET College. Finally, they must possess N4 to N6 Certificates or a DHET Statement of Results in one of the qualifying fields mentioned above. Students currently volunteering, especially outside the insurance industry, are advised against applying.

Required Application Documents

Prospective applicants must prepare and submit a specific set of documents to support their application. These include an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing their educational background and any relevant experience. An originally certified copy of their South African ID document is mandatory. Applicants also need to provide originally certified copies of their Matric Certificate and, where applicable, their NCV Certificate. For those who have completed the required coursework, originally certified copies of their N4, N5, and N6 Certificates or their DHET Statement of Results are essential. It is important to note that all certified documents must not be older than six months at the time of submission.

Important Application Information

Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA emphasize that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessment. Therefore, it is advisable for applicants to ensure their contact details are accurate and up-to-date. Late applications will not be considered, and incomplete applications are likely to be disqualified. To avoid any last-minute issues, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications well before the official closing date. This proactive approach can help ensure all necessary documentation is received and processed correctly.
