Smart Solar System Training Development Programme 2026
In partnership with Plentify (Pty) Ltd, the eThekwini Municipality is also offering the Smart Solar System Training Development Programme. This is a three-month program designed to give unemployed youth practical skills in installing home energy management systems. The training includes both classroom learning and hands-on, on-site experience.
Smart Solar Programme Requirements
To be eligible for the Smart Solar Programme, applicants must meet several criteria. They need a Technical Matric Certificate or an N3 Technical Matric with Electrical and/or Plumbing trade subjects. Applicants must be South African citizens between 18 and 35 years old, possessing a valid ID and a Code 8 or Code 10 driver’s license. They must be unemployed and reside within the eThekwini Municipality area, with proof of residence required.
The ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English is essential. Participants must also be physically fit for manual work, including tasks at heights and in confined spaces. A willingness to engage in training and work activities, along with a passion for energy, sustainability, and community contribution, is important.
