East Coast Radio has a highly exciting opportunity available! We are searching for (1) Programming intern to join our vibrant and dynamic team on a 12-month internship program. A basic stipend will be paid for the duration of the programme.

What skills and experience we are looking for?

  • Knowledgeable about pop music with an interest in a broad range of genres
  • Systematic person with extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience with music scheduling and playout systems would be an advantage
  • Understanding and experience of social media:
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Broad general knowledge and general computer literacy
  • (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/ Outlook)
  • Office equipment (photocopier/fax machine/printer)
  • Highly organised, deadline driven, with good time keeping skills;
  • Team player, with the ability to work independently;

Key Performance Area’s include but not limited to: 

  • Schedule and compile the station’s playlist
  • Load music onto the station’s playout system
  • Correspond with artists and record companies
  • Reconcile and load playlists where necessary
  • Working under the guidance of the team leader on any online music projects
  • Stations Music Projects

What qualifications are required? 

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma/ Degree in Media Studies or towards a diploma or a degree.
  • Work experience at a radio station, retail radio environment or in the music business
  • Code 08 Drivers License (preferable)
