Graduate Intern: Ecological Technician (Freshwater)

This role is at Jonkershoek Nature Reserve in Stellenbosch. Workers help follow the National Water Act by checking water use licenses. They do audits, support license applications, and turn field data into databases. Duties also include freshwater monitoring, fieldwork, and writing reports. Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc Honours or MSc in Freshwater Ecology, Aquatic Science, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Graduate Intern: GIS Technologist

Located in the Cape Town office, this position deals with mapping and data tools. Interns collect and check GIS data, help with fire management maps, and build databases from raw information. They also aid in reports, spatial analysis, and cartography. It’s ideal for tech-savvy people interested in geography and conservation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree at NQF Level 7 or higher in Geomatics, Environmental Management, Conservation Science, or Biological/Ecological Sciences.
  • Skills in GIS software like ArcGIS and QGIS.
  • Knowledge of cartography and GPS.

General Requirements

All applicants must be South African citizens and recent graduates unemployed for up to two years. A clean criminal record is needed, along with a valid Code EB08 driver’s license. Candidates should be ready for remote field work. Strong organization, analysis, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills are key.
