BOCMA is a public entity created under the National Water Act. It manages water resources in the Breede-Olifants catchment area. Available Internship Fields
BOCMA has openings in three main areas.
Water Resources Management (10 Positions)
You need a Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources Management, Environmental Science, or related fields. A BSc Honours in Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry also qualifies. Work focuses on monitoring water quality, ensuring environmental rules are followed, and promoting sustainability.
Water Resource Planning – Hydrology/Geology (2 Positions)
A Master’s degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or Geology is required. Interns help with technical models and long-term water planning.
Water Resource Planning – Engineering (2 Positions)
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Agricultural Engineering. Tasks include planning infrastructure and developing water systems.
Duration and Stipend
The internship runs for 24 months on a fixed-term contract. Monthly stipends are R7 500 for NQF Level 7-8 qualifications and R10 000 for NQF Level 9.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens aged 35 or younger and currently unemployed. You need a relevant qualification with at least a 60% average in your final year. No prior internships in public or private sectors are allowed.
