Description
Jakes Gerwel Fellowship is an aspirational fellowship which identifies students who, through financial support, high quality teacher education and professional induction, become expert teachers, educational leaders and social
entrepreneurs who will lead system change to achieve quality education for all learners.
Successful applicants will be awarded a fully-funded scholarship to study a three-year bachelor’s degree at the University of Cape Town or the University of Pretoria followed by a one-year PGCE teaching qualification.
Requirements:
Applicants Currently in Grade 12:
- Minimum of 65% average for final Grade 11 results (excluding LifeOrientation)
Applicants Currently in Gap Year:
- Minimum of 65% average for final 12 results (excluding Life Orientation)
1st Year University:
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain 60% course average during 1st year degree studies
- Minimum of 65% average for final 12 results(excluding Life Orientation)
